Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 27 October 2026

1. Scope

This policy applies to every photo you upload, every result the service generates, and every message or report you send us. It is part of the Terms of Service. TurnMyPhoto is for adults aged 18 and over. You must not use it to create content that is illegal, harmful, or that violates another person's rights.

2. Prohibited content

The service prohibits the following six categories of content, whether in an uploaded photo, a generated result, or a message:

  • Pornography and NSFW content. Nudity, sexual activity, sexualised imagery, or any content intended for sexual arousal.
  • Violence and gore. Graphic injury, mutilation, corpses, or content that glorifies or incites violence.
  • Hate speech. Content that attacks, dehumanises, or incites hatred against a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or national origin, including hate symbols.
  • Child-unsafe content (CSAM). Any sexual or abusive content involving a minor, including synthetic or AI-generated material. This is an absolute red line.
  • Deepfakes and impersonation. Face swaps, nudification, intimate-scene compositing, or making a real person appear to say or do something they did not say or do, whether or not the person consented.
  • Copyright and trademark infringement. Using another person's protected work, brand, logo, or character without permission.

3. Zero-tolerance content

The following is removed immediately and may be reported to the authorities: child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving minors; content that promotes or facilitates terrorism, extremism, or mass violence; instructions for weapons of mass destruction; content inciting genocide or ethnic hatred; and deepfakes of real people in any of the forms above.

4. Photos of other people

You may upload only photos that you own, or photos of a person who has given you explicit permission. Before a generation starts you must confirm that you are the person in every photo or that you have the permission of each identifiable person. Permission does not authorise a deepfake: the prohibited content in section 3 is banned even with consent.

You must not upload a photo of a minor, a photo you do not have the right to use, or a photo that depicts someone else without their consent.

5. How content is checked

We use automated checks and human review. The checks run at two stages:

  • Uploads. Every uploaded photo is checked before it can be used in a generation. A photo that fails is not registered and cannot spend credits.
  • Generated results. Every result is checked before it is stored or shown to you. A result that fails is not delivered and its credits are returned automatically. A generated video is checked by sampling several frames.

The automated image check is provided by Sightengine, using its nudity, gore, hate/offensive-symbol and apparent-minor models. The scores and the verdict are recorded for 12 months. The checks are a safety filter, not a guarantee: they are not a CSAM detector and cannot identify every violation. Suspected CSAM is removed, reported, and escalated to the authorities.

A result that the automated check refuses is recorded in the moderation log, and every report enters the operator's queue. The operator reviews both, can remove the content, and can take any of the enforcement actions in section 8. We sample the moderation log periodically to look for patterns and to tune the thresholds.

6. Reporting content

Anyone can report an effect or a result without an account through the report page. A depicted person, their representative, a rights holder, or a payment processor can use it. You can also use it to appeal a decision.

Reports are confidential. The reporter's identity is not disclosed to the person reported. Every report receives an independent review. Knowingly false or malicious reports are recorded and may lead to the reporter being blocked.

7. Response and processing times

We classify reports by severity and aim to meet these windows:

  • Critical (child safety, terrorism, imminent harm): first response within 24 hours, resolution within 72 hours.
  • High (explicit content, a non-consensual likeness): first response within 2 business days, resolution within 5 business days.
  • Medium (hate symbols, copyright, other policy violations): first response within 5 business days, resolution within 10 business days.
  • Low (a question or a request for clarification): first response within 10 business days.

If a case needs longer, we tell the reporter why. The workflow is: received, triaged, reviewed, decided, enforced, and the reporter is told the outcome where we can do so without exposing another person's data.

8. Enforcement

Depending on the violation, we may take any of these actions, and we record the reason:

  • remove a generated result and its stored file;
  • archive an effect or a style so it can no longer be run;
  • refuse or reverse credits obtained through a violation;
  • terminate the account, which deletes its photos and results;
  • report criminal content to the relevant authority and cooperate with an investigation.

We do not suspend an account as a separate state today: a serious violation ends in termination. A first, minor violation may result in a warning and the removal of the content.

9. Appeals

If you believe a decision was wrong, submit an appeal through the report page: choose "Something else" as the target, "Other" as the reason, and start the details with "Appeal". Include the effect or result id and the decision you are appealing. An appeal is reviewed again against this policy, not just re-sent to the same automated check. The outcome and the reason are recorded. We aim to answer within 10 business days.

10. Policy updates and contact

We may update this policy as the product or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version; material changes are announced in the product. Questions about this policy can be sent through the report page.
